President’s Message

As we approach the end of this ARMA year, it is most appropriate that we all take the time to personally thank this year's Board Members. Without their dedication, the success our chapter achieved this past year would not have been possible. The presentations at monthly meetings, the Joint ARMA/AIIM Meeting, and the Joint Spring Seminar were all successful, due in large part to the generous contributions made by our board and other volunteers. So, to all of you, THANK YOU !!!

Our chapter has also planned, and will host this year's Great Northwest Leadership Conference, scheduled for Friday and a half day Saturday, June 10th and 11th. It will take place in Bellevue, at our monthly meeting location at the Coast Hotel. This year's attendance may be a record, and we would love to have you join us for this event. This is an excellent opportunity to see how other chapters in our region function, and to meet members from the other chapters, as well as ARMA international staff.

Our last meeting presentation, although not strictly a Records & Information Management topic, was well attended, and those present really enjoyed our speaker. Roberta Krause, a local 9/11 survivor, gave us a moving re-cap of the post 9/11 days in New York city that she and her sister experienced. I think we all left with a greater appreciation of just what had happened. We were honored to have Roberta as our guest.

Please join us for our June meeting, where we will celebrate the success of this past year, swear in our new Board of Directors, honor this year's Chapter Member of the Year, and just have a good old time. I hope to see you there...

Best regards,

As we wind down another ARMA year, I want to introduce the incoming Newsletter Director for 2005-2006 - Ann Boone, from Microsoft.  Ann has been a regular attendee at the monthly meetings, and will bring a lot of energy and creativity to The Eastsider.    Welcome, Ann!

A great goal for our membership in 2005-2006 will be to submit articles or RIM-related news to the The Eastsider.  Over the two month interim, feel free to email your submission(s) to ramsdell5@comcast.net  for inclusion into the September 2005 issue.

Jerry Rugh, Chapter Webmaster, has added a “Puget Sound Blog” button to the Career Center on the BEC Website.  This means that we now have a central repository for BEC, Greater Seattle and Puget Sound Chapters to post RIM vacancies.  If you have a job to post, please send it to Jerry and he will post it.  Thanks, and hope to see you at the International Conference and during the “new” ARMA year in September!

Cheers,

Message from GNW Region Manager

Dear Great Northwest Region of ARMA members:

My, the 2004-2005 ARMA year has passed quickly!  Of course, at the chapter level, it seems there is no relief, eh?  As the current year winds down, there is hardly time for a breather as the next year gears up.  I hope you will acknowledge the efforts of your chapter’s Board of Director members.  They are steadily working in their volunteer positions to serve you, your chapter and your profession.

Please join me in thanking Dean Koga, Great NW Region Coordinator, for serving our Region so very capably the past two years.  Sadly, Dean’s term as coordinator expires on June 30, 2005.  He has worked closely with several chapters and will be sorely missed!  He will be a tough act to follow!

Lately, I have had the pleasure of sitting in on the GNW Leadership Conference Committee meetings hosted by the Bellevue/Eastside Chapter of ARMA.  Please know that the committee is well organized under the leadership of Fran Blaylock and they are ready to “rock ‘n roll”.  I am truly looking forward to the event, which will be held June 10-11 in Bellevue.  The Leadership Conference is especially designed for chapter leaders, but I am convinced that general chapter members can find significance by attending, as well.  The skills one will learn at the Conference will be valuable in our workplace as well as our daily life.  So, if you are interested in making a “late registration” reservation for this event, please do not hesitate to contact Fran Blaylock at fblaylock@ICOS.com or me at slord@vjglaw.com, or 253-383-3791.

ARMA International is gearing up for its 50th Annual International Conference and Expo to be held in Chicago on September 18-21, 2005.  As in years past, our Region will be announcing a no-host luncheon get-together during the Conference.  So, if you plan to attend the Conference, please keep your eyes open for information about that gathering.

Lastly, I would like to thank you for the efforts and contributions you have made to your local chapter, ARMA and the profession.  I wish you a terrific and safe summer.

Very truly yours,

Sue Lord, Manager

Great NW Region of ARMA
